Check an operator, aircraft, or pilot

Search by company name, tail number (N-number), or pilot name — the public accident, maintenance-disclosure, and enforcement record for operators and aircraft, and certificate verification for pilots.

Try: NetJets Aviation · Boutique Air · tail number N100QS

Covers US certificate holders nationwide — Part 135 charter and Part 121 airlines — plus operators named in NTSB accident reports. Every record shows how confidently it's linked to the operator. You can also browse the full operator register.

What you'll find on a record

Accidents & enforcement

NTSB accident and incident reports, and closed FAA enforcement actions — each linked to its public source.

Maintenance disclosures

Service Difficulty Reports the operator filed with the FAA. Filing is largely voluntary, so the count is not a rating — diligent operators often file more.

How firmly it's linked

Every record shows how it was matched to the operator — by certificate, aircraft, or name — and name-only matches are flagged as unverified.

GroundCheck doesn't score or rank operators. It shows what the public record says, dated and sourced, and leaves the judgement to you.

Who uses GroundCheck

Booking a charter

Check an operator's public record — and verify the pilot's certificate — before you fly. The reason this site exists.

Journalism & research

Forty years of accident, maintenance, and enforcement records joined per operator and aircraft, every fact citable back to its official source — plus aggregate insights across the whole dataset.

Due diligence

Insurance, legal, and deal teams pull these same records from five separate government systems; GroundCheck joins them, and shows how firmly each record is linked so an inference is never mistaken for a source statement.

It's all available programmatically too — an open JSON API and an MCP server for AI assistants, no keys required. For developers →
